ST ANDREW'S SWIMMING CLUB

The St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre squad program is designed to develop strokes and swimming fitness, helping swimmers achieve their goals. The St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre offers squad programs that focus on stroke development, water safety, fitness, competition swimming and performance swimming. Every term the swim school will offer a free water safety talk for parents and free CPR training.

PAYMENT
Sessions are paid in advance in four weeks blocks by direct debit. Bookings are automatically rolled over each year.
Swimmers will be notified when and if cancellations occur over Easter, Christmas, Holidays and on public holidays.

DISCOUNT: St Andrew’s Community 10% (St Andrew’s community includes currently enrolled students and immediate family members and current staff).

Junior Development Squad (75 mins)

Junior Development Squad Information Sheet

Junior Development (‘JD’) Squad is the first Squad beyond the SAAC Learn To-Swim Program. As such it begins the transition from ‘teaching’ to ‘coaching’. The focus is to improve swimmers’ development in all four strokes, and also to give them a basis for participation in competitive swimming. The goal is to improve technique in all strokes, including starts and turns; and introduce basic skills and knowledge to assist in competitive performance. JD Squad sessions are 75 minutes in duration and are usually offered at least once every day from Monday to Saturday.

Recommended 2-3 sessions a week.

Senior Squad (75 mins)

Senior Squad Information Sheet

Senior Squad caters primarily for swimmers who want to swim for general fitness, health and wellbeing; or to assist with their participation in surf and open water swimming, school swimming competition, or other sports such as water polo. The primary emphasis is to improve fitness, but attention is also given to improve technique in all strokes, including starts and turns; and to improve speed, especially for those swimmers who compete.

Recommended 1-5 sessions a week.
Monthly unlimited swim block = $146 ($125 for St Andrew’s students)

Junior Competitive (90 mins)

Junior Competition Squad Information Sheet

Junior Competition (‘JC’) Squad is one of two Squads above Junior Development (‘JD’) Squad, the other being Senior Squad. The focus is to continue swimmers’ improvement in all four strokes beyond the level attained in JD Squad, with an emphasis on developing skills for competition. The goal is to improve technique in all strokes, including starts and turns; develop speed and endurance; and improve skills and knowledge for competitive performance. JC Squad sessions are 90 minutes in duration and are usually offered at least once every day from Monday to Saturday.

Recommended 4-6 sessions a week.

State Squad (120 minutes)

State Squad Information Sheet

State Squad is one of two Squads above Junior Competition (‘JC’) Squad (the other being Senior Squad). State Squad caters for accomplished swimmers committed to swimming as a competitive sport. The focus is to continue swimmers’ improvement in all four strokes beyond the level attained in JC Squad to develop their full competitive potential. The goal is to improve technique in all strokes, including starts and turns; improve speed and endurance; and prepare swimmers for optimal competitive performance at Queensland Age Championships. State Squad sessions are 2 hours in duration and are usually offered at least once every day from Monday to Saturday.

Recommended 5-7 sessions a week.

National Squad (120 minutes)

National Squad is the Squad above State Squad. National Squad caters for highly accomplished swimmers committed to swimming as a competitive sport. The focus is to continue swimmers’ improvement beyond the level attained in State Squad to develop their full competitive potential. The goal is to improve technique in all strokes, including starts and turns; improve speed and endurance; and prepare swimmers for optimal competitive performance at Queensland and Australian Age Championships. National Squad sessions are 2 hours in duration and are usually offered at least once every day from Monday to Saturday.

Recommended 7-9 sessions a week.

High Performance (120 mins)

High Performance Squad Information Sheet

High Performance Squad is the Squad above National Squad. The High Performance Squad caters for elite senior competitive swimmers fully committed to competitive swimming. The focus is to continue swimmers’ improvement beyond the level attained in National Squad to develop their full competitive potential. The goal is to improve technique, including starts and turns; improve speed and endurance; and prepare swimmers for optimal competitive performance at Australian Championships, and international competition where relevant. High Performance Squad sessions are 2 hours in duration and are usually offered at least once every day from Monday to Saturday.

CANCELLATION POLICY
1 week in advance by contacting Reception via email to advise.

REFUNDS
No refunds, however, when individual, unavoidable circumstances occur written requests will be considered.

ADMITTANCE
Fast entry: all patrons are required to check in to Reception on entry. Squad members on 10 visit passes should swipe their pass on arrival. If you do not have your card, please inform the receptionist of your name.

CLASS AND COACH CHANGES
Whilst the St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre will prioritise the stability of the sessions the class structure, pool space and coach may need to change from time to time. St Andrew’s Aquatic Centre does not guarantee the same coach.
