Pool Progress
Progress on the Aquatic Centre construction by Integral Construction and Baldwin Aquatics has been steady over the last few weeks as the weather has been favourable. Recent work includes rendering of the main pool and concreting the balance tanks that serve the pools.
The learn to swim pool has now been concreted while construction of the amenities block walls, including the installation of services, has been finished. The extensive network of underground pipework that runs from both pools to the plant room has been installed in preparation for the construction of the eastern building that will house the pool pumps and filtration equipment.
The above images show that formwork for the grandstand is currently being constructed ready for the first of several concrete pours to establish the seating area. Similarly, form work for the main building suspended slab is also in train and will include the installation of a large amount of service conduits to deliver power, data and water to the lower level of the building, including the sports office and café.
Design of the complex power, light, data, audio, visual, CCTV and security networks has also been undertaken through consultation between the College, the builder and various contractors.
The Aquatic Centre Head Coach/Manager position has been advertised and interviews are planned before the end of 2018. Gifts and pledges to our Building Fund have now reached $663,814 which is wonderful but short of our 1 Million target. It is not too late to late to contribute as any further contributions will go toward project enhancements, including an outdoor eating area with the cafe for parents.
